Divorced stars Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise have reached an "amicable" out-of-court settlement over the split of their multi-million dollar assets estimated at £125 million ($430 million).
Sources close to the couple said that much of the legal argument had been over their £7 million ($24 million) mansion in Pacific
Palisades, Los Angeles.
Cruise eventually let Kidman have it, apparently in return for keeping their £7 million, 52ha ranch in the Colorado ski resort of Telluride. Cruise is said to be keeping a Manhattan flat and London house, and Kidman retains a Sydney apartment.
In a carefully orchestrated public relations operation, Cruise appeared on American television within hours of lawyers making the announcement to insist that he still loved his ex-wife.
"I feel that you can get through things and you can still love that person and care about people even if you have disagreements - and I feel that way about Nic."
His interview was recorded this week, with details leaked beforehand to cast him in the best possible light as "a romantic optimist".
Exactly how the estate of the two actors was divided was kept secret. But Kidman has shed her bitterness over how they split up.
Attorneys said the "amicable" deal was completed to "ensure that the best interests of their children, Connor, aged 6, and Isabella, 8, were protected".
Kidman, who is being tipped for an Oscar for The Others, was said to be happy with her cut. A close friend said: "She received a substantial portion of the assets."
