Three navies continued to search Southeast Asian waters for 10 missing US sailors for a second day as the US Navy ordered a broad investigation into the performance and readiness of the Pacific-based 7th Fleet after the USS John S. McCain and an oil tanker collided east of Singapore. Aircraft from the amphibious assault ship USS America and ships and aircraft from the navies of Malaysia and Singapore were focusing their search east of the city-state where the two vessels collided at an approach to a busy shipping lane.

A massive blaze has swept through the southwestern Russian city of Rostov-on-Don. The fire that erupted at a wooden house quickly engulfed neighbouring buildings. Desperate residents rushed to contain it before fire teams arrived. About 2000 firefighters backed by several helicopters worked for hours to contain the blaze, which destroyed more than 80 houses. Emergency officials said 45 people were injured, and seven of them were hospitalised.
A man has been charged after an alleged incident of road rage in which another vehicle was almost rammed off the road in Newcastle, Australia. The 47-year-old attended Singleton police station and faces a string of charges after footage was uploaded to the Dash Cam Owners Australia Facebook page at the weekend. The video shows a person driving a white Toyota Land Cruiser along Maitland Road and apparently becoming enraged by another motorist in the right-hand lane. The second vehicle, a 4WD driven by the P-plater, continues driving for about a minute before the motorist swerves suddenly and rams into the side of it.
The office of French President Emmanuel Macron has published a charter detailing the role his wife will play during his term, a first in France but a step down from his initial plan to give Brigitte Macron a budget and legal status as first lady. The Charter of Transparency states that there will be no formal budget for the endeavours of the President's wife. Macron dropped the idea after a recent petition opposing it secured more than 280,000 signatures.
