When Ivanka Trump tweeted what she thought to be an Albert Einstein quote back in 2013, she could never have guessed people would still be mocking her for it in 2017.

In the old tweet that has now resurfaced, US President Donald Trump's daughter wrote "if the facts don't fit the theory, change the facts" and attributed the quote to Einstein.

Twitter users, naturally, can't get enough of the sweet delicious irony.

People have been having fun coming up with their own misquotes in response to Ivanka Trump's tweet.

Could Ivanka, in 2013, be predicting the age of "alternative facts" we seem to be living in, four years later?

Another Twitter user also pointed out that "Alright stop, collaborate and listen" should in (alternative) fact, be attributed to Mozart.

Twitter users had some fun applying the "Ivanka Trump" treatment to some other famous quotes.

Twitter user @MandaGator said "Oh I wanna dance with somebody, I want to feel the heat with somebody" was famously uttered by Mother Teresa.

Twitter user @AltNickRad echoed Marie Curie's famous fake words: "If you want to destroy my sweater, pull this thread as I walk away".

As Einstein once almost said, "just because it's on the internet, it doesn't mean it's true".
