Terrifying moment dad catches woman 'trying to kidnap' son

A furious father has confronted and detained a woman he accuses of trying to kidnap his young son from the family's backyard.

The 27-year-old woman climbed across the roof of a Sydney home before she was caught standing next to two small children playing in the backyard on Australia Day.

Footage taken in the backyard shows the father confronting and detaining the woman, saying: "I just caught this lady in my backyard, trying to snatch my little boy. That's my son."

During the video, the father claimed that one of his other children overheard the woman talking to his youngest son appearing to indicate that she was trying to take the child away.

The father also accused the woman of stealing his daughter's shoes.

The woman denied the allegations made by the enraged father, saying on camera: "Alright, fine, I know the truth".

A second video shared online shows a plainclothed policeman handcuffing and escorting the woman out of the yard.

Police told the Daily Mail Australia the woman was taken for a mental assessment following the incident.

"The woman was discovered on the premises by a male occupant. The woman and the occupants are not known to each other.

"Once the woman's release from hospital legal action is expected to be taken."

The video has been shared more than 17,800 times and received more than 6500 reactions.
