Save A Tasmanian devil has died at a zoo in Albuquerque, New Mexico, after a lump of asphalt was apparently thrown at it.
Police are now looking at CCTV footage, to work out if a member of the public or a zoo worker did it.
The animal suffered a serious injury
to its skull, but somehow crawled to a log in its enclosure before dying.
The zoo is one of only two in the states which has Tasmanian devils, and had been hoping to breed them.
