Tamil Tigers lose elite in attacks

Sri Lanka's Tamil Tigers yesterday admitted launching seaborne suicide attacks against Government forces.

The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) said 10 perished in yesterday's attack against a ferry transporting some 1200 troops off the northern coast.

In another suicide attack against a Navy gunboat two Black Tiger suicide bombers were killed. The Defence Ministry said yesterday that security forces beat back the suicide attacks against the troop carrier, but said 11 sailors were killed and 12 were missing.
