Quiet Christmas for Kiwis in Afghanistan

It will be a quiet Christmas for a New Zealand Red Cross aid worker in Afghanistan.

Chris Hughes is working as a volunteer midwife for six months, which means spending Christmas away from her son and daughter

She says it can be tough not being with family at this time of year, but she keeps in contact by email and phone calls.

Chris Hughes says the group of missionaries she is working with have decorated the house they are living in with a few bits of tinsel.

She says looking forward to being in charge of the Christmas pudding.
