Queensland police have launched a homicide investigation into the death of an 11-year-old girl almost two years after she was found by a neighbour.
Sophie Smith was found dead in her Mount Cotton home in August 2019, and her mother was found with "self inflicted injuries" nearby.
At the time, police determined the girl's death was "non-suspicious", but an autopsy was carried out.
Police are expected to front the media on Monday morning to reveal more information about the new homicide investigation.
