Queensland police investigate sudden death of child in car

A child has died after being found unresponsive in a vehicle in Far North Queensland.

Emergency services were called following reports a child was unresponsive inside a vehicle parked on Rankin St in Innisfail, about 90km south of Cairns, about 1pm on Monday.

Paramedics provided medical assistance but the child was declared dead at the scene.

Queensland police have launched an investigation into the death.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
