A young Queensland couple have appeared in court over a crime spree across the state that saw them steal groceries, fuel, a TV/DVD player and flee hotel accommodation without paying.
Kiara Skie Mcghee, 18, and her boyfriend Joshua Aubrey David Macey, 24 appeared in Rockhampton Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, reportedthe Queensland Times.
She pleaded guilty to the thefts committed while travelling with her boyfriend around the south-east of the state and living out of their car, according to Daily Mail.
Mcghee pleaded guilty to 11 charges including fuel drive offs at Ipswich, Stapleton and Burpengary, stealing a TV/DVD player from Aldi in Deception Bay, stealing $85 groceries from Coles and failing to pay for a night's accommodation and food at the Apple Gum Inn in Toowoomba.
She was also charged with failing to appear in court, obstructing police and trespass.
Mcghee's lawyer William Prizeman told the court the couple had become homeless and unemployed when they embarked on the crime spree.
In sentencing, magistrate Mark Morrow took into acount Macey's extensive criminal history and told Mcghee she had been "taken along for a ride" and said she needed to get her life in order.
Mcghee indicated she wanted to get a job at Subway and complete a beauty therapy course.
