A pug that suffered horrific injuries while in dog day care is fighting for its life.
Sydney man Jackson Millan left his dog Otis with a minder he found online for six weeks while travelling overseas.
However, after just two weeks Millan grew suspicious when theminder refused to send him photos of Otis.
The minder finally sent Millan an image which revealed his dog Otis was wearing his harness that "had gross stains around it as if it had never been taken off".
Concerned about Otis' health, Millan demanded the minder take his dog to the vet, where it was found Otis was so neglected and maltreated that he is now fighting for his life.
In a post to Facebook, Millan outed the minder and revealed Otis suffered a 15cm gash around his neck.
"This guy was supposed to mind our dogs for 6 weeks and for more than 2 weeks I have been trying to get photos of the dogs to make sure they are ok. I was met with endless excuses and finally, when I received photos I noticed my pug Otis was wearing his harness and had gross stains around it as if it had never been taken off.
"The result? A 15CM GASH ACROSS MY DOGS NECK FROM THE FRICTION OF HIS HARNESS FOR BEING LEFT ON FOR OVER 3 WEEKS AND A SEVERE INFECTION THAT COULD TAKE HIS LIFE!!!
"My vet said the infection was so bad you could smell it from metres away and he could not even comprehend how something like this could be allowed to happen.
"Imagine the pain he has experienced from WEEKS of rubbing to make a wound this horrible and the fact that I was more capable from 13000kms away to see my dog was not right and this monster was oblivious to the point that my dog could still die from infection."

On Facebook Millan said Otis was still in critical care while his wound was unable to be closed due to the severity of the infection.
He said it's hard to comprehend the injury which looks like a knife attack.

Millan's mother is watching over the care of Otis while he remains at the vets until he heals.
Otis will likely need surgery once the wound is healed and will have a long road to recovery.
