An Australian mother of three who suffered complications after plastic surgery in a Vietnamese hospital, is now dealing with “flesh-eating bacteria” attacking her face.
Perth woman Chloe Mowday, 31, had rhinoplasty and blepharoplasty surgery to reshape her nose and eyelids at a Da Nang hospital earlier this month.
She hadtravelled with her husband Josh and their 5-year-old son Elijah, with plans to continue the trip to Disneyland Hong Kong and Universal Studios in Singapore.
While she initially appeared well following the routine procedures, Mowday’s condition deteriorated rapidly the following morning.
She became unresponsive at her hotel and had to be resuscitated while being rushed back to the hospital, effectively dying en route, her family said.

Her brother Rod told news.com.aushe is now in a more stable condition but remains in intensive care.
“She is out of the induced coma, awake and getting better but she has necrosis due to no blood flow in her face and so infections have started to set in,” he said.
Doctors are managing the condition with repeated surgeries every few days to remove damaged skin from her face.
“Her face and head are completely damaged,” Rod said.
Rod has travelled to Vietnam to care for his sister, who was also placed on dialysis and given medication to treat dangerously low blood pressure, which caused her fingers and toes to turn black.

“The stabilisation is happening slowly as the infection on her face is hindering it,” said Rod, who has hired third-party doctors to assess Chloe daily.
“But she is getting better day by day with her levels dropping to normal as much as they can in this situation.”
Rod told news.com.au he has been able to communicate with his sister through winking.
“I told her to use her left eye for ‘yes’ and right eye for ‘no’.
“We played charades.”

Rod and brother-in-law Josh are now exploring options to return Chloe to Australia.
A GoFundMe appeal has raised close to $70,000, Rod has taken a bank loan, and Josh is applying to access his superannuation.
“I have been replying to every single person who has donated.”
The family has not named the doctor or the clinic involved in the failed cosmetic procedure as a police investigation remains ongoing.
