Now a peacock is keeping New Yorkers entertained after giving keepers at the city's Central Park Zoo the slip.
The peacock escaped from the city zoo, later being spotted perching on a window ledge at an apartment buildingin New York's upmarket Fifth Avenue area, the BBC reported.
Just as the cobra and peahen spawned fake twitter accounts to keep fans updated with their whereabouts, so too has the peacock - name unknown.
@CentralPeacock and @BirdOnTheTown - have already attracted hundreds of followers apiece - with such updates as "Honestly, I didn't realise I could fly this high either!"
In a statement, Central Park Zoo said it hoped the bird would fly back to its home, but if it did not they would retrieve him, the BBC reported.
