Passenger train and truck collide in Melbourne

Two hundred passengers on board a train when it collided with a truck in Melbourne's north have escaped injury.

The semi-trailer and train collided at the High Street level crossing in Reservoir just before noon (local time).

Emergency crews helped about 200 people off the train, and moved them to a safe area.

The drivers of the train and the truck were also uninjured, Ambulance Victoria spokesman Ray Rowe said.

"We've checked over quite a few people to make sure they're okay,'' he said.

MBF Commander Costa Katsikis said the incident caused minor damage to the train and truck.

Traffic was disrupted as passengers were safely evacuated so the train could be moved.

Metro Trains says full services have returned to the line.
