Online star Yulia Burtseva dead at 38 after cosmetic surgery in Russia

An Italian content creator has died after undergoing an overseas cosmetic procedure this week.

Medics were unable to save mother of one, Yulia Burtseva, 38, who had travelled to Moscow from her home in Naples, Italy for surgery of her bottom, according to The Mirror.

TMZ reported the influencer underwent the procedure in a private clinic on January 4, however, her condition later deteriorated and she was rushed back to hospital where she was declared dead.

The Moscow Investigative Committee has opened a criminal probe into possible negligence, People reported.

“Necessary official and medical records will be seized shortly. A number of forensic examinations, including a medical one, are being ordered,” a committee representative told Russian news outlet MSK1.

Burtseva had more than 73,000 Instagram followers at the time of her death.

Her profile contains glamorous photos and funny Reels shot with her husband, Giuseppe. Her young daughter also featured prominently in her content, which focused on family life and parenting.

Fans flooded the social media star’s account, expressing shock and sadness after news of her death broke.

“Please accept my condolences,” one wrote.

“It’s a pity, the girl without a mother is left, the husband without a beautiful wife. Well, where the hell did this low-grade ankle surgery go to? Who was she trying to surprise? It would be better to have a gym, sport than to give up life like this,” another translated comment read.

A Reel from last month showed a 2023 trip Burtseva took to Izmir, Turkey for dental surgery.

“I made veneers for all 28 teeth, I did them at a private doctor in Samara.. I live in Italy, where no one wanted to service my veneers (in Naples it’s not common and they just don’t have that experience),” the translated caption read.

“A Hollywood smile for everyone.”

Burtseva posted for the final time on the morning of her operation, TMZ reported.

The short video, posted to Russian social media platform VK, showed her in a cafe with the text message “Good Morning Moscow” superimposed over the top.
