NSW teen's death 'a mystery'

A 19-year-old woman has been found dead at her home in central New South Wales over the weekend in what Australian police are calling suspicious circumstances.

Officers were called to a home in Cox Street, Mudgee about 6.30pm on Saturday after Michelle Morrissey's body was found.

Detectives say while the cause of death is still being determined, there is sufficient evidence to suggest it is suspicious.

The home has been cordoned off and is being examined by a forensics team. Local police are being helped by homicide squad detectives from Sydney.

Ms Morrissey was a former Mudgee High School student who was a distinguished academic achiever.
