Northern Territory police investigating the disappearance of British tourist Peter Falconio have arrived in Sydney to question friends and colleagues of his girlfriend Joanne Lees.
According to a report in today's Sydney Morning Herald newspaper, police are interviewing people who worked with Ms Lees at a Sydney book store, some ofwhom were in Alice Springs to comfort her, as part of a check on the 27-year-old.
The suspected murder of Falconio and the attempted abduction of Lees sparked a nationwide hunt for the attacker, who tricked the couple into pulling over on a lonely stretch of highway between Alice Springs and Darwin.
Police think Falconio was shot after going to the back of his vehicle.
Lees was bound and gagged and had a bag pulled over her head during the attack near Barrow Creek, about 280 km north of Alice Springs, but managed to escape into nearby scrub.
