Hours after landing in the United States following his capture in Venezuela, President Nicolas Maduro was perp walked in front of media and authorities in New York.
Footage shared by the US Government shows Maduro in handcuffs and flanked by Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) officers as he was perp walkedfollowing his arrival in the country.
In the 12-second clip, Maduro is walked down a corridor of the DEA headquarters in Chelsea, New York. He appears to say “good night” and “happy new year” to those awaiting him.
The ousted Venezuelan leader was clutching a water bottle and wearing dark sweatpants, a dark hoodie and a dark hat.
Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, arrived at a military base in the US this morning NZT, and have been transferred to New York City, after their capture by US forces in Caracas.

FBI agents surrounded Maduro as he descended from a US Government plane and slowly escorted him along the tarmac, before he boarded a helicopter headed to Manhattan, where a large law enforcement contingent awaited.
Maduro was taken first to the offices of the US DEA, then to the Metropolitan Detention Centre, a federal facility in Brooklyn, according to US media.
The AFP reports that both Maduro and Flores are to be arraigned at an unspecified date before a judge in New York.
They have been charged with “narco-terrorism,” importing tonnes of cocaine into the US, and possession of illegal weapons.
