The last letter ever written on the Titanic - in which a passenger described the 'wonderful' journey her family had enjoyed - has sold for a record £119,000 (NZ$233,000).
The note, on Titanic notepaper, was penned just hours before the liner sank with the loss of more than 1500 lives.
The letter said: "It is very nice weather, but awfully windy and cold."
Its author, Esther Hart, survived the disaster, along with daughter Eva, seven.
After the Titanic hit the iceberg, shortly before midnight on April 14, 1912, her husband Benjamin guided his wife and child to lifeboat 14.
His body was never found. The letter was in the pocket of his coat that Esther was still wearing when she eventually arrived in New York with Eva.
It was put up for auction by Henry Aldridge & Son of Devizes, Wiltshire, and was bought by an overseas private collector.
