New PM for Vanuatu

Vanuatu has a new Prime Minister today, as former leader Barak Sope was voted out of office last night.

Mr Sope's loss came after the Vanuatu Parliament was ordered by the acting chief justice to resolve the country's constitutional impasse.

The new Prime Minister, former Opposition Leader Edward Natapei, has said he will investigate the business dealings of former Prime Minister Barak Sope.

Mr Natapei was elected when Mr Sope's coalition walked out of parliament, handing Mr Natapei a majority of 27 in the 52-seat chamber.
