A mother who was sentenced to seven days in jail for refusing to vaccinate her young son has now lost primary custody of him.
Oakland County Judge Karen McDonald ruled yesterday that joint custody of the child would be shared with his father, James Horne.
Mother Rebecca Bedrow was freedfrom jail Monday after serving five days, after McDonald sentenced her to contempt of court, following the mother of two's refusal to comply with a court order dating back to November 2016 which stated she would have a week to bring the boy's vaccines up-to-date.
A week ago, Bedrow pleaded with the judge, saying on the record that she was "not a lazy parent", but rather "a passionate mother who cares deeply about my children, their health, and their well-being."

Following her release from jail, Bredow said she was "devastated" to learn her son received his vaccinations while she was behind bars.
"It was the worst five days of my life, except for the fact that I just found out that he was vaccinated and I'm not going to get him back today," Bredow told Detroit Free press.
"It's been a rough few days to say the least."
Before her sentencing, Bredow had told local news outlets that she would rather go to jail than be forced to vaccinate her son.
