A former editor of the Press newspaper who lost his house in the Christchurch earthquakes has been struck by tragedy again after losing his house to the Australian bushfires.
Andrew Holden was editor during the quakes in 2010 and 2011 and last night tweeted that his beloved house at Wye,Victoria, was also suspected to have been severely damaged by fire.
More than 100 houses have been lost in bushfires in popular Surf Coast holiday towns of Wye River and Separation Creek, about 150km southwest of Melbourne.
In his tweet, Mr Holden -- who is now editor-in-chief of Melbourne's Age newspaper -- wrote: "Will confirm by sight tomorrow but told our house at Wye is gone. 40 years of wonderful memories. Will rebuild, love that place and people".

He tweeted later in the night to thank locals for all their support, "Special thanks to people of Forrest. General store owner opened up yday for emergency food, pub owner gave wife bubbles today. Best spirit".
In Christchurch, Mr Holden and his family lived in the seaside suburb of Sumner and where their home was one of many to be damaged in the February earthquake.
