A New Zealand construction manager in Afghanistan has been badly injured after a landmine blast which killed an Afghan colleague.
Wellington man Peter Gerrard, 57, was injured on Tuesday when workers repairing a road hit a buried landmine, The Dominion Post reported.
He was working for Australian reconstruction firm Professional
Service Solutions in the southern province of Helmand, near Gereshk, west of Kandahar.
The company said Mr Gerrard was in a stable condition at Britain's military hospital at Camp Bastion in Afghanistan.
They would not elaborate on his injuries.
An Afghan colleague died from injuries suffered in the explosion, the company said.
