Kim Jong Un ordered the public execution of a high-ranking army officer – for giving his troops extra rations of food and fuel.
Lieutenant General Hyon Ju Song was pumped full of 90 rounds fired by nine military death-row convicts who made up the firing squad, the DailyMail reported.
He was put to death after being found guilty of abusing authority, profiting the enemy and engaging in anti-Party acts.
Reports suggest he was shot at the firing range of the Kang Kon Military Academy in the Sunan District of the capital Pyongyang.
Online newspaper NK Daily said his "crime" had been to redistribute extra supplies to his men at a satellite launching station in April.
The high-ranking officer told soldiers to send the food and fuel as they were no longer tightening their belts to pursue Kim's weapons programme.
The paper said: "While checking the oil supplies for the Sohae Satellite Launching Station during the comprehensive inspections of wartime supplies on April 10, Hyon stated, 'We no longer have to suffer and tighten our belts to make rockets or nuclear weapons'.
"This was seen as an abuse of authority and a treasonous statement that opposed the Party's military-first policy.
"He gave instructions to send out 1 tonne of fuel, 580kg of rice, and 750kg of corn to military officers at the Launching Station and their families.
"This was considered an anti-Party act violating the Ten Principles for the Establishment of the Party's One Ideology System."

Hyon was held responsible for failing to maintain secrecy about the affairs of the party, military, and government institutions, displaying generosity by distributing unauthorised handouts, and misrepresenting the ideology of the party.
According to a separate source in Pyongyang who confirmed the death, leader Kim was irate when he heard about Hyon's actions and ordered his execution by firing squad, saying: "The ideological poisoning that is personal idolisation is corrupting the chief personnel in the People's Army. We must nip the bud of ideological poisoning."
