Indonesia confirms ninth human death from birdflu

JAKARTA - Indonesia has had its ninth human death due to bird flu confirmed by a Hong Kong laboratory affiliated with the World Health Organisation, a senior Health Ministry official said.

"We have received confirmation. (The death toll) is now nine," Hariadi Wibisono told Reuters about the findings on a man who died last month, making him the ninth confirmed death from the H5N1 strain of bird flu in Indonesia, the world's fourth most populous nation.
