Hostage changes tune

Former hostage Ingrid Betancourt said yesterday she had no intention of suing Colombia's Government for damages for the more than six years she spent as a hostage of leftist rebels.

Her statement came two days after it was disclosed she had filed a damages claim for US$6.8 million ($9.5 million). Angry Colombians called her ungrateful.

Their military rescued her and 14 others in July 2008.
