Horrific moment man throws dart into girlfriend's eye

This is the gruesome moment a woman appears to take a dart directly in the eye after goading her boyfriend into throwing one above her head.

The footage is thought to have been shot in a New York City bar between a couple who are filmed teasing each other while having a drink, the Daily Mail reported.

The woman is heard poking fun at her boyfriend as she sits directly beneath the dartboard, confidently telling him to throw the dart.

She is recorded shouting: "Go you f*****g p***y" at the man while sitting underneath the dart board.

The first dart shoots past her hair, just missing her face, and sticks into the back wall.

She removes the dart and holds it up for the camera, adding: "Almost - it was like it hit an apple on my head."

But just as it seems the the game was over her boyfriend throws a second dart which looks as if it goes straight into her eye.

It is unclear whether the dart actually pierced her eyeball or just hit the skin around her lower eyelid.

While there were some suggestions online that the woman was taken to hospital afterwards, others were quick to point out that it may have been a hoax.

One social media user said: "It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye."
