Police are searching for a man whose date might have later fallen from a balcony, impaling himself on a table leg.
Detectives are investigating the life-threatening fall from a Surry Hills balcony in Sydney last weekend and think a potential witness may have met the victim earlier that day viaa dating app.
Just before 4pm on Sunday, police from the Surry Hills Police Area Command were called to a unit block in Brisbane Street where a man had fallen three floors from a balcony on to a ground-floor patio, impaling himself on a table leg.

The 37-year-old Swedish/American national remains in a critical condition in the intensive care unit at St Vincent's Hospital.
Surry Hills Police Area Commander Detective Superintendent Gavin Wood said users needed to be situationally aware.
"Know who you are meeting, where you're meeting them, what their intentions are and perhaps establish some safeguards beforehand such as providing close friends with those details," Det Supt Wood said.
