Giraffe stolen from reserve, eaten

Eight people appeared in court in South Africa yesterday to face charges that they stole and ate a giraffe.

The SAPA new agency reports that when police found the men they were preparing to eat the giraffe, which had been stolen from a game reserve.

The accused in the Letsitele Magistrates Court in Limpopo, where many game reserves are located including the famous Kruger National Park.

Adult giraffes can weigh well over a ton and reach five metres in height.
