George Speight remains in jail

Fiji coup-leader Speight and 18 others charged with treason remain in custody after appearing in court a short time ago.

Defence counsel requested the reading of the charges be adjourned to another date, while the court decides on the validity of an immunity decree granted to Speight to end the hostage crisis.

Defence also made an application for the wives of all the accused to visit them on Nukulau Island this Sunday, with food parcels for Father's Day.
