French police capture jail breakers

Two armed convicts who blasted their way out of a French jail taking guards and motorists hostage were captured last night near Paris, police said.

Gunfire was reportedly exchanged although no one was injured.

Christophe Khider, 37, and Omar Top El Hadj, 30, had earlier stolen a vehicle and taken hostages, who were released.

Police gave chase in squad cars and helicopters.
