Fear for life of French actress

French actress Marie Trintignant, 41, the daughter of film star Jean-Louis Trintignant, was still in a coma yesterday after allegedly being beaten at the weekend by her rock star boyfriend.

Doctors said that Trintignant was being kept alive by artificial respiration and that her chances of survival were "minimal".

Police have identified her boyfriend, French rock singer Bertrand Cantat, as a suspect and have questioned him about the alleged attack that took place in the Domina Plaza Hotel in Vilnius, Lithuania's capital.
