A Starbucks coffee ended up costing a jewellery salesman from Kansas about US$300,000 ($589,275).
Police say the man stopped for coffee at a Starbucks in Parker, Colorado.
He was returning to his car when he was held up.
Three masked robbers took three "tubs" of
jewellery and a briefcase containing the salesman's handgun, the Rocky Mountain News reported.
