A double amputee who led Newcastle police on a 130 km/h, 5km car chase was jailed for a year on driving charges.
Robert Bate, 27, who lost his legs in a rail accident when he was 9, modified his automatic Vauxhall Astra.
He used wooden poles
and ducting tape to control the brake and accelerator.
