He said: "God destroyed the Earth with water, by a flood , in the days of Noah. And he says he'll not do that again, not by water. But he does say in 2nd Peter 3 that he'll destroy it by fire."
Mr McCann did however offer up the disclaimer that "there's an unlikely possibility that it will not".
He had previously claimed the world would end of May 21, 2011 but had since revised that date.
So while New Zealand may have lived to see another day, perhaps we should keep our fingers crossed for our Northern Hemisphere friends who are still trying to see out October 7. Maybe the end of the world works on Pacific Standard Time.
