Nato said yesterday that a Taleban commander was among several armed individuals killed during a search operation in Kandahar by Nato and Afghan troops, but residents claim the troops killed eight innocent civilians, including two elderly men.
Nato said that coalition and Afghan troops came under hostile fire and returned fire in self-defence and killed several armed men, including Taleban commander Shyster Uhstad Khan. But residents say troops shot civilians in two homes.
