Denmark to get first glimpse of new prince

COPENHAGEN - Denmark will tonight get a first glimpse of its new prince when Crown Princess Mary leaves hospital in Copenhagen.

The Australian-born princess will be making her first public appearance since Saturday's birth of her first, and as yet unnamed, child.

Crown Prince Frederik has been by her side for much of her time in hospital in Copenhagen.

However the couple will leave hospital tonight at 10.30pm (AEST), offering a brief photo opportunity for the newborn prince, it was announced on Denmark's royal website.

The young family are expected to return to their residence at Fredensborg Palace north of Copenhagen.
