KINGSTON, Jamaica (AP) In a Nov. 29 story about the seizure of ammunition in Jamaica, The Associated Press reported erroneously that authorities had seized 3,300 missile warheads. Jamaica's government says the materials that police referred to as "warheads" are used to make bullets for handguns.

Jamaican authorities seize 3,300 'warheads' aboard ship

KINGSTON, Jamaica (AP) Authorities in Jamaica say they have seized a large quantity of material used to make ammunition at the Port of Kingston.

Deputy Police Superintendent Steve Brown said Friday that custom officials discovered 3,300 of what are known as "warheads," and are used to make 9 mm bullets for handguns.

He declined to say where the shipment originated from or its destination. No one has been arrested.

Brown told reporters that police are seeking helping from international agencies following the discovery.

He said it was the first time authorities had made such a discovery though there have long been suspicions that illegal weapons enter the country through the port.
