A woman attending a Mass in honour of the local patron saint of a Sardinian village died when a crucifix fell on her.
The 38-year-old was with her two children, aged 9 and 18 months, to celebrate the feast of San Lorenzo, patron saint of Mogorella.
The woman was following thepacked service from the steps outside when part of the cornice and a crucifix tore from the facade and fell on her, killing her instantly. No one else was hurt.
