SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) The former police commissioner in the Puerto Rican capital of San Juan has been sentenced to prison in a child pornography case.
Hilton Cordero Rosario was given a sentence of 10 years as part of a plea deal. Cordero apologized as he appeared ina jail uniform in federal court in San Juan. The judge also sentenced him Monday to 15 years of probation and said he will be required to register as a sex offender upon his release.
Cordero had been facing 20 felony counts and 30 years in prison when he entered a guilty plea to a single count in February as part of the deal. He had persuaded an underage girl in his neighborhood to pose for explicit photos.
