Child porn charges

Nine men have been charged in Queensland as part of an operation to smash an international ring selling custom-made child pornography.

A man who allegedly assaulted his four-year-old granddaughter is among those so far facing a total of 188 charges in Australia.

Detective Superintendent Peter Crawford yesterday revealed Queensland officers had sparked an international investigation involving 28 countries when they uncovered European-made pornographic images on the internet in late 2006.

The operation led to the arrest of a 42-year-old Italian filmmaker who was running a website from his Ukrainian studio.
