Call to cut lead poisoning

China's environmental protection minister has called for more effective measures to tackle heavy metal poisoning, as anger grows among parents of children poisoned by lead.

Lead poisoning has dogged China's heavy metal bases in Shaanxi, Hunan, Henan and Yunnan provinces, leading to protests and closures of smelters.
