Britain in Sangin handover

British troops have handed over Sangin to United States and Afghan forces, after losing more than 100 lives in the district during the past four years.

Britain has suffered its heaviest losses in the Sangin area of Helmand province, which is considered the most perilous military posting in Afghanistan.

Nato's International Security Assistance Force said the handover was possible because of the increase in the number of US troops in Afghanistan.
