Welcome arrival The International Space Station received its first shipment from a private, Virginia-based company in more than two years. Orbital ATK's cargo ship pulled up at the space station bearing 2265kg of food, equipment and research. Japanese astronaut Takuya Onishi used the station's big robot arm to grab the vessel.
Prison break Police officers were searching cars and boats for escaped prisoners after recapturing at least a dozen of 172 inmates who overpowered guards and fled from a lockup in Arcahaie, central Haiti, the prison's director said.
Former Emir dies Qatar's former Emir, Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad al-Thani has died aged 84. He ruled Qatar from 1972 until 1995 when he was deposed in a bloodless palace coup by his son Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, the father of Qatar's current Emir Sheikh Tamim. Qatar will observe three days of mourning.
New street protests Polish women put black clothes back on and returned to the streets, launching another round of protests against efforts by the nation's conservative leaders to tighten Poland's already restrictive abortion law. A large group in Warsaw decried the Catholic Church's influence on political life, chanting "We have had enough!" Similar protests took place in other cities across the country.
Missing in action Some 83 Nigerian soldiers are missing in action since Boko Haram Islamic extremists attacked a remote military base at Gashigar village in the northeast. The soldiers were unable to fight back and fled because Boko Haram had superior fire power, the officers told AP.

Open rebellion Venezuela's Congress today declared that the Government had staged a coup in a raucous session that was interrupted when supporters of the socialist administration stormed into the chamber. Politicians vowed to put President Nicolas Maduro on trial after a court friendly to his Administration last week blocked the Opposition's campaign to recall the deeply-unpopular President. Lawmaker Julio Borges said the Opposition-held Congress is now in open rebellion against the Government.
