A three-year-old Paris boy has died after he was allegedly put in a washing machine by his father, who then switched it on as "punishment".
Christophe Champenois, 33 has been charged with murder of a minor, after allegedly placing his son Bastien's naked body into the machine and running acold wash, as punishment for flushing a classmate's drawings down the toilet at playgroup, the Sun reports.
The toddler's mother Charlene reportedly released her son and took his limp body to a neighbour, claiming Bastien had fallen down the stairs.
The neighbour, named only as Alice, told the paper his mother did not understand her son was dead.
"I took him in my arms like a broken doll. I felt the last beat of his heart."
While Bastien's parents stuck with the story, his five-year-old sister told police her brother had been locked in the washing machine, and had been shut in the closet in the past.
Bastien's mother was charged with not preventing a crime and not assisting a person in danger.
