A teenage boy has blown his family's life-savings on hostesses he met online.
Xiao Ming, who lives in Lishui City in East China's Zhejiang Province, said the online-streaming hostesses were his only friends.
The 14-year-old became addicted in October when he started speaking to five different hostesses who promote in-game
purchases.
The hostesses convinced him the purchases would improve his virtual characters.
He bought the hostesses virtual gifts, spending a total of NZ$6059 - his parents' life savings - in under two months, news.com.au reports.
