Boat disasters kill 37

At least 37 people were killed and 31 were missing in two boat disasters in northern India and neighbouring Nepal, authorities said.

In India's Uttar Pradesh state, an overloaded boat carrying more than 70 people capsized in the Ganges river. District administrator Anil Kumar said 27 bodies had been recovered while 32 people managed to swim to safety. Rescue workers were searching for the rest.

In Nepal, at least 10 people died and 18 were missing after a boat carrying 41 villagers capsized in the Sunkoshi river, 350km east of the capital Kathmandu..
