Bar pleads for return of giant nutcracker stolen by masked electric bike rider

A Scottish bar is pleading for the return of a life-size nutcracker stolen by a man fleeing on an electric bike.

CCTV footage from November 24 shows a masked man wrestling with the 2.4 m tall nutcracker outside Copper Blossom, an upscale cocktail bar.

Passers-by walk past as the bandit balances the giant ornament horizontally across his lap and flees.

Manager Paul Paxton is appealing for the return of ‘Nolan’, one half of a pair of statues stationed at the entrance to the basement bar.

He told the Herald he suspected the “brazen” theft was premeditated because he headed straight for the festive giant.

“It took us by surprise to say the least; it’s not even December! And this is why we can’t enjoy nice things.”

The BBC reported the £900 ($2091.46) decoration was part of a display worth several thousand pounds. .

Nolans ‘brother ‘Nelson’ is now being kept inside overnight for safety.

“Have we lost a bit of keen appeal by only having one ornament up? Perhaps”, Paxton said, “however, the rest of our decorations and what we offer is gorgeous”.

The bar’s annual Christmas display is a popular photo opportunity for residents eager to celebrate the yuletide season, according to the Sun.

Despite the setback, Paxton said Nolan’s theft would not spoil the venue’s holiday cheer.

“Our festive spirit is stronger than ever! We’re still here to dazzle.”

Police Scotland are investigating the incident.
