Australian teenager settles rape claim out of court

An Australian teenager has settled a claim out of court after alleging she was gang-raped on an overseas school trip.

The 18-year-old claimed she was raped by four men in the Italian town of Sorrento during a school art tour in 2001.

She sued Tara Anglican Girls School for negligence, claiming the school failed to supervise her properly or offer adequate treatment and counselling after the alleged rape.

The school agreed to a confidential settlement.
