Melbourne gangland taskforce detectives are hoping the latest arrest will disrupt the city's six-year underworld war.
Detectives this week arrested Mario Condello, 52, the intended victim of an alleged murder conspiracy led by gangland figure Carl Williams.
In the latest twist in a spate of killings, Condello has been charged with conspiring and inciting to murder Williams, his father George and a third man.
His alleged co-conspirator is high-profile solicitor George Defteros, 48, who was also arrested and charged.
